Zac Efron Rehab News Update: Actor Breaks Silence After Coccaine Addiction Rumors
Zac Efron finally reached out to fans Friday with an update on his latest adventure in Peru, posting a picture that shows him happy and healthy, according to Ace Showbiz.
Efron wrote on his Facebook page, "Hey guys! Just returned from an incredible trip to Peru with my dad and wanted to thank you all for your support these past few weeks...means the world to me. Love you guys! - Z." Efron looks better than ever in his posted photo, with the ruins of Macchu Picchu in the background completing the idyllic scenario.
The "Hairspray" heartthrob took to Facebook and Twitter to thank his fans for the support they've given amidst rumours that the actor has spent some time in rehab for cocaine addiction and for a rave drug called 'Molly', according to TMZ.
According to his Facebook post, his backpacking trip to Peru was done with his dad, so it seems that the "High School Musical" star is indeed getting better, with the solid support of his family. However, not a word about his alcohol or drug addiction has been issued by the actor or his representatives. It seems the silence about the issue is going to stay as his rep told TMZ earlier, "Don't think we'll be making a comment."
Before his recent Facebook update, Efron was last seen in public promoting one of his newest projects, "Parkland" at the Toronto Film International Festival early September. His co-star in the film, Marcia Gay Harden, praised the young actor for the effort to fight his demons. She said, "The fact that he's seeking help only says great things about him," as reported by Ace Showbiz.
Efron's other recent projects include "That Awkward Moment," a romantic comedy that boasts Imogen Poots and Michael B. Jordan among the cast, as well as the controversial film, "Neighbors," on which set Efron had reportedly became out of control in his drug abuse, according to USA Today.
A backpacking trip is designed to give perspective and inspiration, so that Efron's fans can rest easy that the actor is on the right track to recovery. The young star seems to have a better fate than his celebrity peers, who have spiralled downward and never got back up.
