Angelina Jolie took part in a sit-down interview with Vanity Fair magazine recently, where she discussed several different aspects of her life.

Aside from new details on her recent marriage and what it's like living in holy matrimony, Jolie revealed that she would be "open" to pursuing a career in politics at some point in the future.

The Vanity Fair interview was published online on Tuesday. With Tuesday having been the day that this year's midterm elections were held, it happened to offer the perfect segue into a dialog with Jolie on her possible political aspirations.

During her sit-down with Vanity Fair, the actress's "prolific political activities" prompted the interviewer to ponder whether or not Jolie may someday become involved with politics by way of being elected or appointed office. When asked point blank whether Jolie could see herself pursuing a life in politics, diplomacy or public service, Jolie responded, "I am open."

"When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered," Jolie said. "Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility."

Jolie, a noted and regaled humanitarian to the core, reportedly first encountered the effects of humanitarian crises when filming a movie in a war-torn part of Cambodia. She later credited that experience with having brought her a greater understanding of the world, according to a report from New York Rock.

After returning home from Cambodia, Jolie hooked up with the United Nations in order to find out how she could help out in international "trouble spots" where these humanitarian crises were occurring. The actress went on to personally visit these troubled areas in countries all across the world, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Sierra Leone, Sudan, Afghanistan and more, according to an interview that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) had with Jolie.

In 2001 Jolie was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador to the UNHCR. Following that appointment, she reportedly continued to travel the world, making monetary donations, building schools and medical centers in needy countries and communities, and regularly spoke out the public in a bid to create awareness of the grim realities of life in so many places suffering from strife.

Forbes has reported that over the past decade or so, Jolie has become more involved with promoting humanitarianism on a political level. For example, the actress began lobbying humanitarian interests in Washington, D.C., where she reportedly met with U.S. Senators and Representatives at least 30 times.

Specifically, Jolie, who has been involved in protection efforts for vulnerable populations of women and children, began pushing politicians to pass legislation to aid child refugees both in developing nations around the world and in the United States. She also was reported to have fronted an international campaign against sexual violence in military conflict zones.

In discussing her efforts in the nation's capital, Jolie told Forbes, "as much as I would love to never have to visit Washington, that's the way to move the ball." That was in 2006.

Fast forward to 2014, and although we see that Jolie has chosen to continue to keep her political profile low, the thought of one day running for office is not just on Jolie's mind, it seems to be on everybody's mind -- from the writer at Vanity Fair to the writer penning this particular piece -- and undoubtedly millions in between.

Will we one day see a President Jolie? Only time will tell. In the meantime, however, the starlet confirms that she is taking well to the married life and seems very happy to have made the decision to say "I do" to husband Brad Pitt.

When asked by Vanity Fair about the nature of her relationship with Pitt since their August wedding, Jolie replied "it does feel different."

"It feels nice to be husband and wife," Jolie said.

Next on the docket for the power couple is a film called "By The Sea" that Jolie will direct and both Jolie and Pitt will star in.

"A few friends asked if we were crazy ... [a film about] a married couple going through some difficulties ... and I'm directing him," Jolie told Vanity Fair.

Crazy in love, most likely.
