Damon won't get the welcome home greeting he was hoping for from Elena when she finds out he's back in Mystic Falls in the next all-new episode of "The Vampire Diaries."

In last week's episode, Damon managed to escape out of the 1990s and return home. However, he realizes that Alaric completely erased Elena's memory of their romance. As a result, she will want nothing to do with him in Thursday's episode, "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get."

"My best friend compelled my beautiful and lovely girlfriend to forget that she ever loved me. I'm great, Ric," says Damon in a sarcastic tone in a preview video.

"All that he wanted was to come home to his girl, and just hold her and have her say everything is going to be OK, and it doesn't pan out that way," Ian Somerhalder told TVGuide in a recent interview.

Somerhalder added that Damon will go to great lengths to make Elena choose to restore her memories of their love.

"At the end of the day, it is for love and he's going to try everything he can to get her back and win her back," he said. "And I think along that journey, he's going to realize not only has he done bad things, [but] he's done some extraordinary things [and] he's a fiercely loyal boyfriend and brother."

Actress Nina Dobrev also talked about the upcoming episode.

"The show was so Delena-heavy and their love was such an epic love and such a big story point for so many years that it's a strange dynamic now to have all that gone," she said. "Which is kind of what makes it interesting because it's an Elena we've never seen before."

Damon's love life isn't the only thing he will have to worry about, however, since he will also be captured by Tripp. In one clip, Damon appears to wake up in the vampire hunter's torture cabin right beside Enzo.

In an exclusive sneak peek clip published on TVLine, Enzo threatens to hurt Matt if he doesn't help him escape from Tripp's prison.

"What do you think would happen if I were to tell your boss about known vampires and their [gestures as Matt] groupies?" Enzo warns.

Executive producer Julie Plec also teased the next episode.

"When you have a vampire hunter, a mystical border that makes you enter into a no-magic zone and a lot of vampires coming together, somebody's not coming out the other side of that," she said. "The conclusion of this episode changes a lot of people's lives forever."

According to Dread Central, the official synopsis reads as follows:

"When Alaric (Matt Davis) realizes that Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) can't be compelled, he asks Elena (Nina Dobrev) to do some digging into her background. After learning that Enzo (Michael Malarkey) has been captured by Tripp, Caroline (Candice Accola) teams up with Matt and Stefan (Paul Wesley) to rescue him before Tripp learns their true identities."

Armed with some new information about her past, Sarah (guest star Gabrielle Walsh) breaks into Tripp's (guest star Colin Ferguson) office and is surprised when she finds Matt (Zach Roerig) there, doing some investigating of his own. Meanwhile, Elena is forced to deal with the consequences of her actions, and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) hits rock bottom, lashing out in a destructive way."

"Lastly, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is determined to take matters into his own hands when he receives some upsetting news."

Season 6, Episode 6 of "The Vampire Diaries," "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get," will air on The CW on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m. EST.
