Country music is becoming more pop-like everyday. With simple lyrics and less twang, country is sometimes confused with the genre. Wednesday night, country music got even more pop-y by inviting Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande to the stage of the Country Music Association Awards.

Miranda Lambert invited Trainor to do a collaboration song. They looked great on the stage together, and both had an awesome stage presence.

But, why do country fans need to know why Trainor is "all about the bass" and not the treble? Lambert and a pregnant Carrie Underwood, who hosted, could have done an acoustic version of their huge duet "Somethin' Bad," which is killing it on country radio these days.

Next, Grande, a big Top-40 pop artist, got on the stage with the trio of Little Big Town and sang "Bang Bang." Grande and Little Big Town were kind enough to invite some local Tennessee drum lines to help with the song, but Twitter sure didn't like the performance.

Of course, George Strait was recognized many times, but why was Grande given a song instead of him. Even the Doobie Brothers got more stage time than Strait. Maybe he asked for that, but many country music fans aren't happy with Trainor and Grande trying to encroach on their music.

Taylor Swift was already missing for her duties in her new pop music venture. She recently released a pop album called "1989." Again, country music loyalists might not agree with what Swift is doing, but she sure is getting tons of radio play with her new song "Shake it Off."

So, what do you think? Is pop becoming country? Or is country becoming pop?
