Miss World 2013 Megan Young is just like you and me; well, except for the jeweled crown that she inherited Saturday night when she won the much-coveted Miss World 2013 title, as reported by Rappler.com.

Born Megan Lynne Young, the newly-crowned Miss World 2013 is a Filipino-American, having been born on February 27, 1990, in Virginia, USA. She holds dual citizenship and spent some of her years in the United States before coming home to the Philippines when she was a teen. (Watch her contestant introduction video here).

Having worked in the entertainment industry in the tropical country, her artist profile says that she stands 5'8 tall, weighs 110 pounds, and has brown eyes. She lists "Acting, Dancing, Hosting and Singing" as her talents and skills, according to ABS-CBN. She joined "Pinoy Big Brother:Celebrity Edition," in 2008, the Philippine's version of the US reality series "Big Brother," where she was dubbed as the "Princess of Charm" because she could coax fellow housemates into doing chores for her, as reported by Pinoy Republic.

As a celebrity, Young has starred in 11 films and has made numerous television appearances since 2005, according to Wikipedia. Prior to joining the Miss World 2013 pageant, she had been busy shooting scenes for her projects on Philippine network TV5, with shows such as "Never Say Goodbye," and "Misibis Bay."

Apart from her projects on television and on film, Young has been busy schooling. She's majoring in Digital Film Making at the prestigious De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

The beauty queen however, is deemed by friends to be down-to-earth. Among the characteristics that make her just like any other person, include the fact that she loves to eat. Her Instagram account features various types of food, and the 23-year-old does not hold reservations in adoring her favorite munchies such as chocolates, cupcakes, and mac and cheese. Megan even lists some street food as her favorites, such as fishballs, and dirty ice cream sandwiches. The 23-year-old also reportedly loves to play video and board games.

On her Facebook page, Megan says, "I like to talk, so I guess that's what made me a host. I'm 5'8". Size 9 shoes. I love reading.
