Tori Spelling's Husband Dean McDermott Reveals He Was Hospitalized for Planning Suicide With 'A Loaded 9 MM'
On Wednesday, Dean McDermott had a candid interview on "Access Hollywood Live" in which he revealed that he was leaving the Lifetime series "True Tori" and had suicidal thoughts, reports Access Hollywood.
"I'm not going to continue with the show," McDermott told talk show hosts Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. "We have five more shows left ... I can't do this anymore. I can't keep opening a vein, opening my soul and sharing my feelings and thoughts and demons with the world."
McDermott said he wished that he had never cheated on his wife, Tori Spelling, or abused drugs and alcohol.
Despite the one-night stand with a woman named Emily Goodhand and the couple's turbulent relationship, McDermott confirmed he still loves Spelling and they are still together.
He also admitted that the affair and drug and alcohol abuse took him to a dark place where he nearly lost everything.
"I don't ever want to be in that dark place again where I wanted to take my life ... I was driving around in my truck with a loaded 9 mm. I was put on a 5150 at the UCLA psych ward," McDermott revealed.
When asked about his relationship with Tori's mother, Candy Spelling, McDermott said he, Tori and the kids see her "eight times a year, holidays and kids' birthdays." Asked whether or not Candy shared her late husband's estate with Tori, McDermott said, "In my recovery, all I can be is honest and no."
"No," he continued. "There's no financial help."
Candy rep responded to McDermott's claim with a statement to Access Hollywood.
"Candy has provided financial help in the past and has offered repeatedly to pay for the children's private schooling and Tori has never told her where to send teh money," the statement said.
If McDermott had contemplated suicide, it seems the Canadian-American actor has overcome it. When asked about his future plans, he said, "I see myself on a scripted show."
"I'm getting back to my roots, I'm getting back to acting ..." he explained. "I went out an auditioned for a [part] on a 'CSI' and got it ... [it's airing] December 14."
