Scientists Discover That Black Holes Have Hair? New Study Explained
Latest research made by a group of scientists discovered that black holes are not that as clean and simple as most think.
Zeenews reports that black holes are dirtier than most scientists believed. Thomas Sotiriou, one of the scientists that made the research, is also a physicist from the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA).
The traditional model defines that black holes have two quantities which are the angular momentum and the mass. It further explains that when the progenitor collapses, the memory is lost for good. All that will be seen is a huge black hole with no recognizable features. In short, it all looks the same: black holes.
According to Mr Sotiriou, the black holes may have "hair," as per their calculations. This is of course in contradiction with the popular statement thrown by another physicist by the name of John Wheeler whose claim leads to an otherwise conclusion.
But as per Mr Sotiriou, basing on their calculations, the growth of its hair is alongside the emission of gravitational waves. Their findings were even included in the Physical Review Letters.
On the other hand, for Wheeler's theory, the black have no other distinct features since the observers outside it can only see everything about it as one and the same. But with Mr Sotiriou and his team, it was more than just a simple explanation as that.
"This matter forces the pure and simple black hole hypothesized by Kerr to develop new 'Charge' (the hair, as we call it) that anchors it to the surrounding matter, and probably to the entire universe," the team wrote in the published report according to the IBTimes.
However, Sotiriou insists that their calculations are just the start to bigger things and new data is still required to further test their theory that black holes certainly have hair.
