Veteran actress Laura Zapata, 58, opened up about having cancer in 2005.

The "La Gata" villain opened up about having breast cancer. She explained that it wasn't life threatening, but that if not taken care of, it could have increased her chances of later developing an invasive form of cancer.

"In 2005, I had carcinoma in situ," she said. "But now I'm perfect. When it's in situ, you just extract what is damaged. I had it in both breasts."

Carcinoma in situ is when the cancer has only affected the milk duct and not any breast tissue.

Zapata was living in Miami at the time, and she knew she was going to be in the city for a while, so she decided to get health insurance.

"They gave you a check up, and that's when they found it..."

She added that every time she's gone back for a checkup, she's been given a clean bill of health.

Zapata also recently denied that her grandmother lives in a hospice.

Several publications said that her grandmother was placed in a home two months ago. But Zapata said that her grandmother, Eva Mange, only goes to the home for recreational activities. Mange lives in Zapata's home.

Zapata's sister, Thalia, was in Mexico earlier in the month, and she dropped by to visit Mange.

Thalia was at Zapata's house for about three of four hours with their grandmother. Zapata didn't want to say anything about Thalia, who she has had plenty of issues with in the past, but she did say the visit meant a lot to Mange.

"My grandmother was very happy," she said. "[Thalia] was very happy. I couldn't be there because I had a prior engagement. She wanted to see my grandmother, and I opened the doors to my home to her."
