Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery after hurting a man inside a Las Vegas nightclub last month, reports confirmed.

According to ESPN Los Angeles, Griffin was at Tao Nightclub when a man, identified as Daniel Schuman, allegedly took a picture of the superstar power forward. Griffin was upset by camera flashes in his face and allegedly squeezed Schuman in his neck and grabbed the man's phone.

Griffin could spend six months in jail if proven guilty or be fined $1,000. A jail sentence is highly unlikely, though, considering the fact that the superstar has no prior convictions for violence. Sources said that the 25-year-old is due for arraignment on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.

Clippers teammates DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul were reportedly with Griffin in the nightclub, but they were not involved in the reported incident.

When asked about the charge against him, Griffin said that he is not scared, but he feels bad because it is becoming a distraction to him and the Clippers.

"I definitely wouldn't say scary," Griffin said. "I feel more badly just for the fact that it's a distraction. I really don't know how big of a distraction it really is, but it is. So that's what I feel mostly bad about."

Clippers head coach and team president Doc Rivers expressed support to Griffin and also praised the Oklahoma City for the way he is handling the situation.

"I love Blake and support Blake, and this will work out," Rivers said. "Blake was more upset that he thought it was a distraction for the team, and he didn't want that. I think that's great that he feels that way. I'm always more concerned with the individual involved. It will play itself out."

Rivers also added that the team won't stop having a portion of their training camp in Las Vegas in the future, saying that his players should just be more responsible for their actions.
