Miss World 2014 Contestant Miss Honduras Missing: Boyfriend of Beauty Queen's Sister Arrested as Suspect
Honduran beauty queen Maria Jose Alvarado Muñoz has disappeared before the beginning of the Miss World Competition.
Alvarado and her sister have both been missing since Thursday, and their family reported them missing on Saturday, according to CNN. The two sisters were last seen getting into a car after going to a party in Santa Barbara. Miss Honduras and other Miss World hopefuls are supposed to be arriving in London this week for the competition.
According to trome.pe, Police Chief Jose Coello said four people have been arrested in connection to the women's disappearance. This includes the owner of the bowling alley where the party was held and the boyfriend of Sofia Trinidad Alvarado, who is Miss Honduras' sister.
Teresa Muñoz, the mother of the two women, asked authorities to do everything they can.
"I ask police authorities to do whatever possible to rescue them, and I hope they are alive," she said. "I have faith and know that God will bring them home, safe and sound."
Beauty queen Maria Jose was in Tegucigalpa when her sister asked her to come to a party in Santa Barbara.
Teresa said that Maria Jose arrived home at 6 p.m., got ready in a few minutes and then left in a champagne-colored car that came to pick them up. The mother called Maria Jose until Friday at around 2:30 p.m. because she hadn't picked up the phone. It seemed like the phone was turned off. By Saturday, Teresa's concerns grew, and she went to the police.
Sofia's boyfriend, Plutarco Ruiz, 26, is one of the main suspects.
"He is the piece to the puzzle, and he is a suspect in the disappearance of my two daughters," Teresa said. "The Santa Barbara police arrested him. I hope my daughters are fine."
