Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn blasted popular golf writer Dan Jenkins for writing a fake interview that was published on the December issue of Golf Digest.

Jenkins wrote an article headlined "My (Fake) Interview with Tiger" that features a made-up question and answer conversation with Woods. In the interview, Jenkins made fun of the former World No. 1's relationship with Sergio Garcia and Woods' reluctance to fire longtime agent Mark Steinberg.

Woods published a letter on The Players' Tribune where he said that the "concocted" article was below the belt. The golf superstar said that he is used to attacks from media personalities, but he said that Jenkins' article was not even a "good-natured" satire.

"Whether it's misreported information or opinions I think are way off base, I let plenty of things slide," Woods wrote. "But this time I can't do that. The sheer nastiness of this attack, the photos and how it put false words in my mouth just had to be confronted."

Woods also blasted Golf Digest for publishing an insulting article, where they hired a person to pose like Woods in photos, just to sell more issues of the magazine. He also added that they asked Golf Digest to issue an apology, but they declined, defending Jenkins' decision to write the parody article.

"My representatives and I asked Golf Digest for an explanation, some reason for what I think is journalistically wrong and a pretty cheap shot," Woods continued. "Digest responded by saying it was Dan's humor, and they didn't think it was unfair or they wouldn't have run it. Those aren't great answers."

Vonn, who is busy training for her upcoming return to competition in December, expressed support for Woods, saying that she is happy her 38-year-old boyfriend took a stand against the made-up interview.

"We talked about the article and that he was going to say something," Vonn said in an interview with USA Today. "I completely agree with him. I agree with his statement and I'm glad that he did it. That's not journalism. It was like a fabricated interview, like what (Jenkins) thinks Tiger would say. But it went way too far, and it wasn't very clear that it was a joke, that it was fabricated."
