Golden Retriever Gets Distracted by Every Obstacle Possible in Dog Show Race Viral Video [Watch]
A new viral video is sweeping the Internet. But instead of featuring someone accomplishing an incredible feat, or amazing viewers by showing real talent at a unique skill, this video shows a dog being -- well, a dog.
However, this instance of adorable puppy behavior is not seen as a good thing.
In "Hilarious Golden Retriever Really Wants To Race But.. First Things First," a short clip is shown of a dog competition. However, this is not the typical American Best in Show type of parade; the pooches of these breeds are being led through competitive tasks in the "Koira Mestari" by children, who, along with the announcer, are heard speaking in a foreign language.
For this particular challenge, the dogs' restraint is put to the test. A simple straight-line maze is arranged and the dog's only task is to run from one short end to the other as fast as possible. To make the race more difficult, however, the sidelines of the race track are littered with dog distractions: bowls of food, squeaky toys and tennis balls.
The first dog seen -- some sort of sheep dog breed -- performs the trick very well, with his young boy trainer signaling him to start. He only falters once briefly to sniff and investigate one object along the trail. His trainer yells encouragement as he crosses the finish line.
The next contestant, which appears to be a German Shepherd, performs even stronger, running straight toward the arms of her girl master without flinching at the distractions.
Then, the golden retriever, the namesake of the video, takes to the starting line. As the starting sound is rang, the dog, completely missing the task, begins to make its way down the race course by thoroughly playing with, eating and chewing every item set out to distract the dogs. The golden retriever stops to quickly chew on a tennis ball, lap down some water and kibble from a dish and then scramble to pick up and shake a squeaky toy.
Workers of the dog show can be seen in the background laughing at the lighthearted mistake made by the pooch.
The video, uploaded from Golden Retriever Lovers, simply describes the action as "LOL," "funny," and poses the question, "What would your dog do in this situation?"
Since the account uploaded the funny three-minute clip online on Oct. 14, more than 11 million views have been recorded on YouTube.
