President Obama has healthcare woes filling up his schedule lately with the government shutdown, so he and Michelle don't have time to get glammed up for other important events, such a the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's annual gala.

This marks the first time that the Obamas will have to decline their invitation, even though it takes place close by at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. tonight, according to Fox News Latino.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's annual gala "is the largest and most prestigious gathering of Hispanic nonpartisan, public and private sector leaders in the nation who convene to network while celebrating the achievements of the Latino community," according to the CHCI.

Five-time Grammy Award and Latin Grammy award-winning international superstar Olga Tañón is set to perform.

Tañón will join 2013 Medallion of Excellence honorees Salma Hayek Pinault and Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr. along with the 2013 CHCI Chair's Medallion Award recipient Dr. Francisco G. Cigarroa, at the 36th Annual Awards Gala. Emmy Award winning Telemundo journalist, Jose Díaz-Balart, will serve as celebrity host for the gala ceremony.

Much of the federal government shut down Tuesday after Congress missed the deadline to pass a temporary spending measure. It's the first shutdown in 17 years, Fox News Latino adds. 

In addition to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's annual gala, the President will have to put on hold his trips to Malaysia and the Philippines, which were to be part of a trip to Asia next week, according to USA Today. Plans to participate in economic summits in Indonesia and Brunei are still on his schedule, the newspaper reported.
