Emotions are running high as the sixth and final season of NBC's "Parenthood" quickly comes to an end.

In last week's episode, "Lean In," Max and Dylan had a falling out after Max became physically aggressive in his effort to win Dylan over. However, Dylan was completely turned off by Max's persistence and tried to tell Kristina that he is harassing her, but Kristina dismissed her cries.

Tension between Max and Dylan then exacerbated during a parent-teacher conference at their school just as Kristina and Dylan's parents saw Max grabbing her. As a result, Dylan's parents became really upset that Kristina ignored their daughter's feelings and decided to remove her from the school. It wasn't until Max and Kristina offered a sincere apology at the end of the episode that they decided to let Dylan stay.

Joel and Julia's tumultuous relationship was also a focus in "Lean In."

Although Julia planned to force Joel to sign their divorce papers, the two ended up getting into an emotional conversation and making out. Julia's reluctance to close the door on her estranged husband also ruined her relationship with Chris, who broke up with her once he realized that she was still in love with Joel.

The episode ended with a suspenseful cliffhanger as Zeek awoke from his sleep because of chest pains and was in need of an ambulance, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Unfortunately, "Parenthood" fans will have to wait until Jan. 8, 2015, for the next all-new episode, "How Did We Get Here?" However, an ominous preview video shows that Zeek will get bad news while he's in the hospital.

"Your heart is just not strong," a doctor tells Zeek in the promo.

Season 6, Episode 10 of "Parenthood," "How Did We Get Here?" airs on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, on NBC.
