Gwen Stefani Hot New Music Video 2014: Singer Releases 'Spark the Fire' Produced by Pharrell [Watch]
After teasing it for a while, Gwen Stefani finally released the second single titled "Spark the Fire," produced by her favorite collaborator Pharrell, off her upcoming third studio album.
Earlier this month, Skateboard P offered fans a sneak peek of the club-friendly track during his performance at Odd Future's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, as he took out his phone and played it over the speakers:
The No Doubt frontwoman's latest music appeared in a recent FIAT Gran Finale commercial as well, alongside Fergie's "L.A. Love" and Phillip Phillips' "Unpack Your Heart":
"I'm coming down, ooh I had a blast / But you know what they say / The high will never last," she slowly kicks off the song in full version before repeatedly shouting: "Who got the lighter? Let's spark the fire!"
Stefani then shows off her rap skills, spitting in eighth-note triplets over the percussion-heavy instrumental with an incessant triangle: "OMG, OMG, I'm back again, original feel-good is what I defend."
Also, "The Voice" judge subtly expresses feminism. "It is time for the girl species to grow... I am a Libra, let's balance the scales," she sings.
"She really wanted the world to know, 'Listen, this is me, this is Gwen Stefani. I'm back, I'm making a statement, and I'm not standing down for anything,'" the producer explained in a statement. "In my mind, I'm like, 'This sounds like feminism. This sounds like I'm unapologetic for me being a woman and me being in this business and being in this world.'"
The super energetic cut is very reminiscing to Stefani's 2005 hit "Hollaback Girl," which was also produced by Mr. Williams, especially with her chant-like singing.
Meanwhile, she unveiled a 10-second preview clip of the Harajuku-inspired music video for "Spark the Fire" during her appearance on "Ellen." Directed by Sophie Muller ("Baby Don't Lie"), the animated snippet sees the blonde singer dancing, dressed in a cloud shirt and surrounded by text bubbles and colorful emojis.
Gwen Stefani, who took a lengthy eight-year hiatus from the music scene, is currently getting ready for a December release of her new album.
