'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Release Date & Cast News: Christian Bale Admits to Being Jealous of Ben Affleck
Christian Bale, who undoubtedly disappointed fans with his final decision to permanently take off the famous black cape following "The Dark Knight Rises (2012)," recently spoke about the first time hearing about his replacement as the new Batman.
Ben Affleck is now set to be Bruce Wayne in 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." During an interview with Empire Magazine for its December issue, Bale revealed how he honestly felt hearing the cast news.
"I've got to admit initially, even though I felt that it was the right time to stop, there was always a bit of me going, 'Oh go on... Let's do another,'" he said. "So when I heard there was someone else doing it, there was a moment where I just stopped and stared into nothing for half an hour."
"But I'm 40," he continued. "The fact that I'm jealous of someone else playing Batman... I think I should have gotten over it by now."
The British actor added that although he has not spoken with Affleck, he emailed him instead to offer him advice on the new superhero role. "I would imagine he is doing everything he can do to avoid anything I did," he said.
In addition, Bale has been cast to star in Sir Ridley Scott's biblical adaptation of the story of Moses "Exodus: Gods and Kings," which is scheduled to his theaters on Dec. 12. When asked to compare the role of Moses to Batman, he laughed.
"It's a little embarrassing to compare Moses to Batman," he said. "There are similarities, you know, tragic beginning and then a heroic future. But Moses is a little more violent. I'm sure if there'd been guns around at that time, Bruce Wayne might have had a chance."
Christian Bale's "The Dark Knight" Trilogy, which was directed by Christopher Nolan, made nearly $2.5 billion worldwide over about a decade for Warner Bros.
