Nicki Minaj Hot New Music 2014: YMCMB Emcee Raps About Her Abortion in 'All Things Go' [Listen]
Nicki Minaj candidly raps about losing a child as a teenager in her most sincere and emotional track to date, titled "All Things Go," off her highly anticipated third studio album "The Pinkprint."
Produced by Boi-1da, Vinylz and Allen Ritter, and co-written by Ester Dean, the upcoming LP's opening song samples Sufjan Stevens' "Illinois" single "Chicago." The Trinidadian emcee starts off by revealing her desire to become a mother.
"Life is a movie, but there will never be a sequel / And I'm good with that, as long as I'm peaceful," she offers her first verse. "As long as 7 years from now, I'm taking my daughter to preschool."
Minaj then admits to unwillingly accepting her boyfriend's proposal from a decade ago: "Just yesterday, I swear it was '06 / Ten years ago, that's when you proposed / I look down, yes I suppose."
The Young Money artist's heartbreaking storytelling continues, as she mourns her cousin, who was shot and killed back in 2011. "I lost my little cousin, to a senseless act of violence," she spits in the second verse. "His sister said he wanted to stay with me, but I didn't invite him / Why didn't he ask, or am I just buggin'?"
Finally, the slow-tempo track closes with Minaj's third verse about her regretful abortion, as well as her little brother. "My child with Aaron, would've have been sixteen, any minute," she raps. "So in some ways I feel like 'Caiah, is the both of them / It's like he's 'Caiah's little angel, looking over him."
The "Anaconda" rapper previously spoke about her abortion in her 2008 song "Autobiography": "Please baby forgive me, mommy was young, mommy was too busy tryna have fun / And now I don't pat myself on the back for sending you back."
In addition, during her Q&A session with fans via Twitter on Tuesday, Minaj claimed that "All Things Go" is one of the two most emotional tracks off her new record, along with "Grand Piano":
Nicki Minaj's "The Pinkprint" is set for a release on Dec. 15.
