'The Originals' Season 2, Episode 9 Spoilers: Executive Producer, Danielle Campbell Tease Rebekah's Decision to Eliminate Esther in 'The Map of Moments' [Watch]
There will be more family drama in the Mikaelson clan when Klaus and Hayley reunite with their daughter Hope, and Esther goes on the hunt to kill their baby in Monday's all-new episode of "The Originals."
In the last episode, "The Brothers That Care Forgot," Rebekah returned to New Orleans with baby Hope. The Mikaelsons convinced everyone that Hope had died during childbirth after Rebekah secretly escaped last season from the French Quarter with the child. However, now Esther is determined to destroy the baby.
In the show's mid-Season finale, which is titled "The Map of Moments," Klaus and Hayley will reunite with baby Hope for the first time since she was born. In the meantime, Rebekah will meet with Klaus and Hayley at the family's safe house to devise a plan to rescue Elijah and take down their mother, Esther, once and for all.
The CW released an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming episode that shows Elijah and Rebekah in the safe house with Hope. However, Elijah appears to be upset that Rebekah brought him there while he was unconscious.
"I am here to protect you," Elijah tells his sister. "And yet, you find it necessary to render me unconscious before bringing me here."
"Well, you weren't yourself," Rebekah said. "And I needed to get us out of the diner. What happened back there?"
According to executive producer Michael Narducci, that scene takes place after Rebekah snaps Elijah's neck because he was acting out of character.
"Well when we left Rebekah she had just snapped Elijah's neck because she realized that something was off kilter with Elijah," Narducci told ETonline. "He had slaughtered a bunch of innocent people, and perhaps had done so for no real reason. He wasn't really threatened. He could have just compelled them, so he is not fully himself."
As a result, Rebekah took heed to Klaus' advice and decided to escape to the family's safe in an effort to protect Elijah, Hope and the rest of the Mikaelson clan.
"It's been cloaked by magic and nobody can find them," Narducci said. "And that will be the site of a family reunion. So you can expect to see Klaus and Hayley arrive and spend some time with the family."
However, the EP revealed that their precious family moments will be short-lived as Esther is determined to kill Hope.
"They have to decide exactly what they're going to do as a family to address this threat that is posed by Esther," he said. "The advantage that they now have is that Esther does not know where that baby is or that the baby is alive, and they want to take care of her before the secret is revealed."
Narducci also teased that Rebekah is going to play an integral role in the plan to defeat Esther.
"So for Rebekah, who has cared for Hope for the past several months, she is going to have a very strong protective instinct and is going to decide to get involved in the take-down of Esther. That will be the big big story point for her in this episode," he said.
In another preview clip, Klaus and Marcel are seen pressing Kol for the coveted diamond.
Actress Danielle Campbell also dropped a few spoilers about the highly anticipated fall finale and her character, Davina.
"It's like the holiday episode, so, to me, it's a really special one and there is a lot going on," Campbell said during an interview with Access Hollywood. "It's very hectic and [there is] lots of drama, lots of action. It's a pretty packed episode."
According to Campbell, a lot of things will cause changes in New Orleans after the mid-season finale.
"Everyone's got their own storyline and their own plan that they're devising in some way and it kind of just starts to spiral out of control to the point where it's chaos and it makes for a really cool episode," she said.
"The Originals" Season 2, Episode 8, "The Brothers That Care Forgot," airs on Monday, Dec. 8, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
