'Va Por Ti' Winner Spoilers: Yazaira Lopez's Husband Reportedly Confirms Her Win Ahead of Finale
Social media was ablaze with rumors that Yazaira Lopez won "Va Por Ti" before the finale even aired.
But now, it seems these murmurs weren't just speculation. Lopez's husband, Carlos Quiñones, has confirmed that the talented singer has been named the winner of Univision's singing competition show, notes Primera Hora.
Quiñones said the finale was taped on Wednesday in Mexico, which is why viewers started talking about the winner. Quiñones wasn't at the show, but someone did update him while the episode was taped.
"I found out quickly because I was communicating with someone who knew what was going on, and when I found out that Yaza won, I stayed calm," he said. "I was going to stay quiet so that the whole world would tune in on Sunday, but it was impossible. People found out through social media, and I had nothing to do with that. If it were up to me, no one would have found out."
Not only were people voicing their opinions on the finale on social media, the town of Naranjito in Puerto Rico, where Lopez lives, was also celebrating with fireworks.
Quiñones was able to communicate with his wife through text, but it was only for a brief conversation.
"It was a short conversation," he said. "She told me that she was happy and that she couldn't believe it. I told her that her sacrifice was worth it and she said: 'It was difficult, but I feel happy.' I feel very proud of her because she won [in Mexico]."
Quiñones added that though he wasn't with her, he can attest that her journey was not easy. He called her a "warrior" and said that great things are coming for her.
Viewers have expressed both negative and positive opinions following the news.
"@vaporti what cheats you are," one upset social media user said. "It's already known that Yazaira won, and it's not fair."
Accompanying the tweet was a picture of Lopez with the hashtag #FraudulentYazaira.
Another person replied to a viewer who announced that Lopez's win would upset them.
"Hahaha well I have bad news for you," the tweet said. "The person with real talent won #YazairaVPT, and your Fer came in second place."
The finale will air on Sunday at 8 p.m. on Univision.
