Chiquis Rivera to Appear on Gloria Trevi's Show; Find Out Why Trevi Gave Her 'La Malquerida' Song [Watch]
Chiquis Rivera and Gloria Trevi have proven to have a strong friendship.
Earlier this year, Trevi wrote "La Malquerida" for Chiquis, and the aspiring singer reportedly helped Trevi with her reality show. The two will be together again on Sunday's episode of "A Toda Gloria," which airs at 9 p.m. ET on mun2.
Trevi talked to People En Español about her meeting with Chiquis, where the late Jenni Rivera was a topic of conversation.
"I had a very beautiful friendly with Jenni, and out of respect of the [Rivera] family, I try to be very cautious about that topic," she said. "I told [Chiquis,] 'Look, your mom and I had many things in common, our way of thinking, of expressing ourselves. When you need motherly advice, I am a mom.' I gave her a song I was going to record."
Trevi explained that she was asked to write a song for the telenovela "La Malquerida," but it didn't work out. Trevi said that talking to Chiquis reminded her of the problems Chiquis and Jenni had.
Much like in the telenovela, which tells the story of Acacia falling for her mother's husband, Chiquis was accused of having an affair with her mother's husband, Esteban Loaiza.
Trevi knew then that the song belonged to Chiquis.
"God knows why he does things," she said. "They told me that the song is doing super well for her."
Trevi said that she and Chiquis are close and that their relationships mimics the one that Chiquis had with Jenni.
The "A Toda Gloria" star also talked about getting used to having the cameras around.
She explained that she was used to presenting herself a certain way in interviews but that seeing herself on TV was a strange experience.
"You don't realize when you are sucking your teeth or when you scratch the side of your nose and it looks like you put your finger inside, horrible," she said. "All of sudden, I saw things that I never realized that I did."
For someone who is very critical of herself, it was a difficult process. But she said it also taught her some important things about herself. For example, she would sometimes tell other people she was upset at her husband instead of speaking to him directly.
