A bevy of video game trailers–more than 10, in fact–debuted at Friday night's Video Game Awards.

The previous Video Game Awards shows were called VGXs, but now the VGAs has its rightful video gaming audience. Some critics called last night's official VGAs more of a world premiere of video game trailers than an award show.

Geoff Keighley, the organizer and host of this year's VGAs, is a journalist and video game enthusiast. He brought the VGAs for gamers via livestream, Forbes reported. Keighley is confident in his idea and in the success of a show like this that highlights video gaming.

"Our industry needs a big moment at the end of the year to celebrate our culture and our successes," Keighley said to Forbes. "And I honestly felt that if I wasn't going to do a show like this, then it wasn't going to happen. This year our industry really needs a big celebratory moment to bring us all together. We need to show that gaming is a positive and uplifting industry -- a place where you want to work and play."

Here is a glimpse of some of the video game trailers that debuted at the VGAs.

Zelda is confirmed for a 2015 release. The trailer showed a brief glimpse of the world map, as well as the gameplay, with Link riding Epona, a horse.

The zombie-sports video game Human Element blew fans away. And, speaking of zombies, a new game Dying Light, also about surviving zombies, debuted with a release date for late January.

Godzilla The Game, based on the movie, is getting its second chance at wowing the gaming demographic.

Mario Maker revealed new art styles based on Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.

Some newer games, like Tacoma, also debuted. It gives a first-person perspective of a "technician" as she talks to the control center over a radio in what appears to be a space mission. Tacoma is set for a 2016 release.

Metal Gear Online is the multiplayer component of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - The Sword of Destiny also showcased its trailer.
