Here's our breakdown of how the Galaxy Tab S stacks up against the Nexus 7.

Pros and Cons of the Galaxy Tab S:

The Galaxy Tab S has a larger 8.4-inch display compared to the Nexus 7. Furthermore, it has more powerful CPU options on top of having more RAM and 128GB expansion slot. It also has a more powerful battery and camera.

One of the few cons of the Galaxy Tab S is that it is slightly heavier than the Nexus 7, but this is understandable since it is a larger tablet.

Pros and Cons of the Nexus 7:

The Google Nexus 7 is lighter than the Galaxy Tab S. It may have a smaller screen but its pixel density and vividness is almost the same as that of the Galaxy tab.

The Nexus 7 however has a less powerful CPU, lesser storage options, and lesser RAM. The tablet has less powerful camera lenses and even measures thicker than its larger rival. Asus could have kept it lighter to give it some edge.

Talking Points:

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 was introduced in June 2014 and released a month later.  Samsung first displayed the tablet at its 2014 Galaxy Premier at New York. The table received positive reviews from The Verge, and it was praised for being even thinner than Apple's iPad Air. The Multi-Window feature was also acclaimed, but the tab was also criticized for its plastic body and a fingerprint reader that was difficult to use.

The second generation of Nexus 7 was released in July 2013. Many critics have given positive reviews to the device. It received attention for its size, design, secondary camera and a modern UI. It has been recognized as a major upgrade over the predecessor.

Prices:

The Galaxy Tab S is currently available at a price starting from $399. The Nexus 7 starts at a price of $199 for the 16GB model.

Conclusion:

The Galaxy Tab S is easily the better device. The only points that may be favorable to the Nexus 7 are its smaller size and lightweight frame. The Tab S is slightly larger, slimmer and more powerful. If you can spend $200 more, it would be better to get a more powerful and slightly larger tablet.
