Sunday Night Football 2013 - NFL Oct. 6 Scores, Stats, Results: 49ers Down Texans In 34-3 Victory
The San Francisco 49ers turned in one of their most complete games on Sunday night in a 34-3 win over the struggling Houston Texans.
Most notably the 49ers defense ran the show; the squad notched three interceptions, including one pick-six against Texans' quarterback Matt Schaub, who was benched late in the game.
But just when we thought the 49ers defense was carrying the team, the offense also did its part, firing on all cylinders -- quarterback Colin Kaepernick launched a 64-yard touchdown to Vernon Davis while running back Frank Gore picked up 81 yards on the ground and a touchdown.
Kaepernick didn't even have to do much as he only threw 15 passes and completed 6. Still, he did plenty with the limited opportunities and threw a pair of touchdowns.
The 49ers suffered a two-game losing streak earlier this season but have bounced back to cancel out those losses by winning consecutive games.
"We're the 49ers. When we're on, we can do whatever we want to do," Gore said as reported in the Associated Press. "That's probably the best front we've gone through all season, and up front our O-line did the job. If it's smash-mouth football, we'll do it."
Coach Jim Harbaugh praised his team's complete performance all the way around.
"I just thought it was a well-executed game plan -- in every phase," coach Jim Harbaugh said. "Really pleased. Guys were executing well. Just about every area you look at was extremely good."
San Francisco will now change gears to prepare for the Arizona Cardinals. Houston, on the other hand, will look to rebound next week against the St. Louis Rams.
