Minecraft for PS4 & Xbox One Mods & Gameplay Update: Pocket Edition Tops iPhone, iPad App Store Charts, a Pug Plays the Game [Watch]
As the year draws to a close, news about "Minecraft" continue to pour in. Although Mojang, "Minecraft’s" creator, will not be releasing any new large-scale updates until next year, the popular video game continues to break records and create different offshoots.
Earlier this month it was revealed that YouTube users who upload "Minecraft" videos belong to a huge community that has millions of followers and billions of views. YouTube has helped propel Minecraft further into the spotlight previously dominated by other games. Because of the game’s versatility, it has become a genre of its own on the video sharing site.
According to Metro, a new video has arrived on YouTube, bringing "Minecraft" videos a step further: Pugs Playing Minecraft. Uploaded by Minecraft YouTuber TheDiamondMinecart, the video has acquired more than a million views since being uploaded on Dec. 6.
The almost five-minute long video feature's a pug usurping his owner's "Minecraft" game and sabotaging it.
In addition to inspiring video game-playing dogs, "Minecraft" has also done very well as a mobile app.
"Minecraft: Pocket Edition" is surpassing other contenders in the paid apps category for both iPhone and iPad, according to the Daily Mail, reaching the No. 1 spot. (Topping the charts for the free apps were Facebook Messenger for iPhone and Skype for iPad.) The app was launched almost four years ago but has recently caught on as the Minecraft trend increased in popularity.
The mobile app has been undergoing some updates recently. Recent updates have been discussed via Twitter.
