Freddie Roach expressed confidence that Manny Pacquiao will knock out Floyd Mayweather Jr. if the long anticipated showdown between the two boxing superstars happens in 2015.

Via Fight Saga, Roach played down most analysts' predictions that Mayweather will have an easy win against Pacquiao, saying that the Filipino boxing icon showed in his recent fight against Chris Algieri that he has a lot of gas left in his tank.

Pacquiao scored a lopsided unanimous decision win against Algieri last month, after the former pound-for-pound king knocked his challenger down six times in the match.

Roach said Pacquiao clearly showed that his skills and power are still there, while Mayweather looked old during his last two fights against Marcos Maidana earlier this year.

"Manny showed against Algieri that his legs are great and he was on his toes for twelve straight rounds," Roach said. "I don't think Mayweather can do that anymore. I think he's getting old and his legs are gone. I think it's only a matter of time before we knock him out."

Roach also played down Mayweather's perfect 47-0 record, which is often compared to Pacquiao's 57-5 record. The Hall of Fame trainer pointed out that Mayweather has been picking opponents whose style is tailor-made for him, while Pacquiao is always ready to fight the best possible opponent.

"I think Mayweather has handpicked every single one of his opponents, and he picks the right styles," Roach explained. "We know he doesn't fight southpaws very well. That's one of the reasons why I think he's ducking us. He knows a southpaw with power is dangerous."

The six-time Boxing Writers Association of America Trainer of the Year also fired back at Mayweather's recent tirade, where he ridiculed Pacquiao for getting knocked out cold by Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012. Roach said his fighter is not embarrassed by the loss to his Mexican rival.

"He's been knocked out three times in his career, but he's not embarrassed about it," Roach said of Pacquiao. "That's part of boxing. That's part of the sport. If you don't think you can get knocked out in this sport, then you picked the wrong sport."
