Linsanity the Movie Trailer, NYC Release Date: Jeremy Lin Documentary Screened Near Old MSG Turf
While Jeremy Lin gears up for a big season on a revamped Houston Rockets team, which now features Dwight Howard, people in his former stomping grounds of New York are talking about the new "Linsanity" documentary.
New York City comptroller John Liu, who recently lost the Democratic primary for mayor, gathered in New York last week with the film's producer, Brian Yang, and the film's director, Evan J. Leong, for a screening. The group discussed the film at a Greenwich Village theater, not too far from the Madison Square Garden basketball court where Lin emerged into relevance as a member of the New York Knicks before moving on to the Rockets.
Leong said during the session that one of the main themes to the film is that "no matter how many times you fail, you can do it, if you believe."
"This was inspiring," Liu said to the Wall Street Journal. "As an Asian-American, I'm proud of Jeremy. We're not all just math nerds."
The film goes into detail about Lin's Christian faith, which ends up being one of the main themes of the film due to it being so important to Lin. The former Knicks star has not been afraid to talk about his religious beliefs and even has religious text on his Twitter page, which is followed by millions of people.
Although the documentary only achieved a three star rating on movie review site Rotten Tomatoes, it is certainly worth a watch considering that the filmmakers started documenting Lin's journey long before he stepped foot on an NBA court. For fans of Jeremy Lin, this film is a perfect look into the life of the NBA star.
Lin's season with the Rockets will tip off on Oct. 30 when the team faces the Charlotte Bobcats.
