Joan Rivers Death Date, Cause, News & Update: Dead Star's Will Shows Property, Money Given to Daughter Melissa, Charities
The details of late comedienne Joan Rivers' will were released this week.
The court documents show that Rivers was worth $150 million and has named her daughter and two additional undisclosed people as the executors of her estate, AOL reports.
In addition to being named executor, Rivers' daughter Melissa will reportedly be given all of her mother's tangible property including her $35 million Upper East Side apartment and house in Connecticut.
Rivers' grandson, niece and nephew have been named as the beneficiaries of her estate, while her publicist, Scott Currie, and her assistants, Sabrina Miller and Jocelyn Picket, were also left an undisclosed amount.
Entertainment Tonight reports that the former "Fashion Police" star also left a portion of her estate to numerous charities including God's Love We Deliver, California's Guide Dogs for the Blind, the Jewish Guild for the Blind in Manhattan, the Jewish Home and Hospital Federation of Manhattan, the Simon Wiesenthal Center and The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Rivers passed on Sept. 4 from cardiac arrest following an upper-gastric endoscopy and a laryngoscopy. She was 81. The Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic -- where Rivers underwent her procedure -- was later cited with numerous infractions including failure to properly monitor Joan's vital signs.
Following her death, E! announced its decision to continue taping new episodes of "Fashion Police" and later revealed its casting of comedienne Kathy Griffin as Rivers' replacement.
"[Fashion Police] was a job that was held by our dear friend Joan Rivers," Griffin said during a recent interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." "I understand I have some very, very large shoes to fill. In her honor, I will not be holding back. I am giving no passes, I am going to let people have it, I'm gonna bring the hammer down."
Rivers' memory continues to live on. She has been nominated for a Grammy this year for Best Spoken Word Performance for the audiobook of her recent memoir, "Diary of a Mad Diva."
The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will air on CBS on Feb. 8, 2015.
