Jordin Sparks and Jason Derulo Breakup: 'Trumpets' Singer Hasn't Spoken to 'Tattoo' Singer Since Her New Diss Song Dropped [Listen]
Jordin Sparks' new music is taking shots at her ex, fellow singer Jason Derulo, with lyrics that reveal a bit about why the musical couple split. Snippets of several songs from her upcoming album have been shared online.
Sparks told E! News that she was hesitant to release the tunes in fear of the reaction people might have to it.
"I knew it was going to get crazy," Sparks said while promoting the Microsoft Lumia's Make It Happen campaign. "I was nervous to put it out there because no one had ever heard me like this before."
In one of the tracks, a remix of Drake's "How Bout Now," Sparks trashes Derulo for getting a big ego because of all of his fame, despite her being there for him.
"Feeling like I have to get all of this off my chest," the 24-year-old sings. "I know you are sitting there thinking 'What is she going to do next?' / Remember I deleted all my other guys' numbers out my phone for ya? / Remember when you broke your neck and I had to wash your back for ya? / You probably don't remember half of the s--t that I did for ya."
Sparks continues to sing to the "Talk Dirty" performer, even going as far as to curse.
"You really f*****d with me way back when, but how about now? / 'Cause I'm up right now and you suck right now," she sings.
The track will be included on Sparks' next studio album, "Right Here, Right Now."
"Every day was different and every day something new came out [during writing and recording sessions], and that day I was having one of those days where I was like, 'I'm just going to do it and I want my fans to hear this side of me. They need to hear it.'" Sparks told E! News. "My fans wanted to hear something, but at the same time it wasn't really planned and I just went into the studio and whatever came out, came out."
Sparks also added that she hasn't heard from Derulo, 25, since the track was released about two weeks ago. It seems like the "American Idol" winner has moved on from the breakup.
"I'm actually probably in the best place I've been in, like, years," she said. "I feel like I am in the best place mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally ... Everything just feels really good."
