'Heartbreaker' Justin Bieber Releases New Single as Ode to Selena Gomez
Pop sensation Justin Bieber has learned that young love isn't easy, especially when you date a beautiful Latina like Selena Gomez. The "Beauty and a Beat" singer had a beat, but no longer has that beauty.
So what did he do to cope with the pain? He wrote a song about it of course.
The 19-year-old YouTube sensation-turned mega pop star released a new single on Monday, his first sign of new music since January, as part of a 10-week "Music Mondays" plan to debut new music, the New York Daily News reports.
Bieber announced the iTunes release of "Heartbreaker," an R&B ballad.
In true Bieber fashion, he took to Twitter to express his feelings about the single.
"It's a song for people going through heartbreak-like I was when I wrote it. It means so much to me to be able to share what I was, and still am, going through, with my fans. I'm very proud of this song and I hope it gives my fans some insight into my heart."
Is Gomez over Bieber?
Her duet with Prince Royce titled, Already Missing You might be an indication.
Back in July of this year, Gomez, who recently turned 21 at the time, opened about her former flame on Good Morning America, just after performing several songs from her just-released record "Stars Dance," the New York Daily News reported.
"He and I have such a history together," Gomez said of her famous ex. "I'll always care about him and protect him if anyone tries to be mean."
Heartbreaker not only drew attention towards his former romance with Gomez, but it also caused a stir on a marketing level.
Bieber's cover art for "Heartbreaker" was compared to rapper Kanye West's fourth studio album titled "808's & Heartbreak" in 2008, E! Online reports.
"Heartbreaker" has "the image is set against a white background, with the artist's name and song title written around a purple heart that appears to be smudged.
West's cover art for "808's & Heartbreak," which featured hits such as "Love Lockdown" and "Paranoid" "is set on a baby blue background with a red, heart-shaped balloon as the focal point."
