Angelina Jolie delivered an exclusive message to media and moviegoers in a video posted to YouTube on Dec. 12. Bad news: The Academy Award-winning actress contracted the chickenpox and the illness has left her unable to attend the premiere for upcoming WWII epic film "Unbroken," her second directorial effort.

"I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the 'Unbroken' events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chickenpox. So, I will be home itching and missing everyone. And I can't believe it cause this film means so much to me," she says in the video published to Universal Studios Entertainment's verified Facebook page on Friday.

In the video, Jolie, donning a white tank top, was covered in raised pink bumps on her face, neck and upper body, according to CNN.

"I just can't believe it!" She snickered ironically before throwing her hands up powerlessly. "I am heartbroken to miss our premiere," she said in another statement via CNN.

"You have to laugh at the timing," the director commented. "I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting 'Unbroken.' I am heartbroken to miss our premiere, most of all the chance to be there with Louie's family, Phil's daughter Karen, veterans and all the guests who are coming."

Universal Pictures said: "We all wish Angelina a speedy recovery and look forward to her returning to her work very soon. She is in very good spirits, considering after two years of hard work, she will not be there the night it finally premieres."

A few nights prior, Sony Pictures co-chairwoman Amy Pascal greeted Jolie with a hug that made headlines for its cold approach, with Jolie leaning away from Pascal. Media outlets paid close attention as Jolie was mentioned in a series of leaked e-mails by a recent cyber attack on Sony. According to the leaked e-mails, legendary producer Scott Rudin said saying Jolie was "minimally talented" and a "spoiled brat" with a "rampaging ... ego." Until the all of the speculations surrounding the uncomfortable hug was due to Jolie feeling under the weather.
