During his walk down the red carpet at the Z100 Jingle Ball in New York on Friday, Ryan Seacrest told the press that the "American Idol" results show is no longer, reports Hollywood Reporter.

"We are going to do the performance show and the results in the same show," Seacrest said backstage at Madison Square Garden. "So there won't be a 'Wait 'til tomorrow night.' There won't be a 'Coming up, coming up, coming up.' We are going to put it all into one format in one night. So that will be exciting."

The change in programming is similar to how "Dancing with the Stars" handles its performance night and results. "[It will be] one night when we get to the final stage, the top 10, there will be one night of performances and results all in one night," he said.

Seacrest also revealed that the three judges, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., spent more personal time with the current contestants which resulted in better quality finalists this season.

When asked if Taylor Swift, whom Big Label Machine president Scott Borchetta signed as a teenager, might be part of the show's mentoring, Seacrest was hesitant. "You have to ask Scott," he told Hollywood Reporter. "But hopefully if he's on the show. ...  It would be nice."

Seacrest would like former Idols to return and mentor contestants. "Now that we've been on for such a long time, you've got mentors in these Idols and they come back with some real experience to talk about," he said.

Season eight runner-up, Adam Lambert, substituted for Urban during the show's auditions phase and offered expertise as a mentor. "Adam stepped up when Keith couldn't be there, and Adam did a great job," said Seacrest.

"American Idol" returns to FOX on Jan. 7.
