Kim Kardashian & News Update 2014: Why 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' Star is Facing Backlash
It seems reality TV star Kim Kardashian doesn't like to share the limelight, even with her own daughter North West.
Kardashian posted a selfie on Instagram Sunday night that blatantly cuts off North's face. Instagram comments about the photo from some of her 23 million followers included, "Seriously you can't even let your own child in a picture with you #selfishness" and "Narcissism at its finest."
Kardashian responded to the social media criticism by tweeting, "Wait is this really news that I posted a selfie & cropped my daughter out? LOL ... Her eyes were closed and I was feeling my look! Can I live?!?!"
Kardashian has always flaunted her image, and whether it is due to vanity, selfie addiction, or a public relations campaign is anyone's guess. Entertainment Tonight reports Kardashian has created a book of her favorite selfies appropriately titled "Selfish" due for release April 28, 2015.
There is already a description of the book on Amazon, which in part reads, "The selfie photography of Kim Kardashian, featuring many never-before-seen personal images from one of the most recognizable and iconic celebrities in the world. From her early beginnings as a wardrobe stylist, Kim Kardashian has catapulted herself into becoming one of the most recognizable celebrities in Hollywood. Hailed by many (including Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci) as the modern-day personification of Marilyn Monroe, Kim has become a true American icon."
The description also states, "Widely regarded as a trailblazer of the "selfie movement" -- a modern-day self-portrait of the digital age -- Kim has mastered the art of taking flattering and highly personal photos of oneself."
This is not the first time the new mother has been criticized for her parenting. In June, pictures of Kardashian, Kanye West and North in New York City surfaced showing the child wearing what appeared to be a pair of diamond-studded earrings. The New York Daily News reported that Twitter followers questioned whether 1-year-old North was old enough for ear piercing.
