Real Madrid extended their La Liga winning streak to 12 games with a 4-1 win over Almeria in Week 15.

With that victory, Real Madrid improved to 13-0-2, giving them 39 points for the season. Cristiano Ronaldo continued to find the net scoring two goals against Almeria on the road. Ronaldo now has 25 goals for the season, which leads the league by an amazing 12 goals. Barcelona's Lionel Messi has the second-most goals this season with 13.

With 25 goals in 15 games, Ronaldo is inching closer and closer to Messi's 50-goal record set in 2011.

As for Real Madrid, they, too, are on a record-breaking pace. Real Madrid has scored 55 goals this season, at least 19 more than any other team in the league. At the pace Real Madrid is going, they will break the 2011 Barcelona team scoring record. All eyes are on Ronaldo, but Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez have been fantastic on offense this season so far. Midfielder Toni Kroos has eight assists so far this season.

Goalkeeper Iker Casillas has been solid in net, allowing just 11 goals in 13 games. If Casillas remains consistent in goal, then Real Madrid should remain unbeatable.

Real Madrid's game for next week with Sevilla has been moved to Feb. 4 because of a conflict with the FIFA World Cup.

Real Madrid's rival, Barcelona, didn't lose, but their last game against Getafe sure felt like one. In Week 15, Barcelona tied with Getafe 0-0. Getafe ranks 13th overall in the standings this season with just five wins and eight losses. It looks like Barcelona may have underestimated their opponent.

That draw ended Barcelona's four-game winning streak, and allowed Real Madrid to take a four-point advantage in the standings. Barcelona has been by far the best defensive team this season, allowing just seven goals the entire year thanks to goalkeeper Claudio Bravo. Messi was held scoreless for the first time since Week 13 when the team defeated Valencia 1-0. Last week, Messi recorded a hat trick against Espanyol in a 5-1 Barcelona victory.

The defending champions, Atletico Madrid, suffered the worst week. The team lost to Villarreal, 1-0 at home. The teams best scorer, Mario Mandzukic, was held scoreless as was the rest of the squad. With that loss, Atletico Madrid dropped to 10-2-3, giving them 32 points. They're not out of it, but Atletico Madrid will have to improve their offense going forward. Atletico Madrid will have to face Athletic Club Bilbao next week, who has five wins and six losses. There's no doubt about it -- that's a must-win game for this team.

This season still has 23 weeks remaining, but it has become obvious that Real Madrid is the front-runner. With by far the best offense in the league, a great goalkeeper and an average defense, this season boils down to Real Madrid vs. the field.

La Liga Standings Week 15, Top Three Teams:

1. Real Madrid: 13-0-2, 39 points
