Michael Strahan Kids and Wife: Why the 'Live! With Kelly and Michael' Host Is the Nicest Guy to Divorce [Video]
"Live! With Kelly and Michael" co-host and retired NFL player Michael Strahan was named as one of Barbara Walters' "Most Fascinating People of 2014."
In honor of making the list, the former football defensive sat down with Walters for an interview on Sunday to discuss a bevy of topics including his two divorces.
Among his two divorces, Strahan described his 2006 divorce from Jean Muggli as "one of the worst best things that ever happened to me." He explained that his divorce from Muggli taught him "to learn not to care what anybody thought" amid the drama surrounding his marital split.
According to Huffington Post, during the divorce, Strahan was accused of cheating and having a romantic relationship with a man.
Despite the accusations, Strahan admitted that he learned to have some restraint regarding the things he could have said publicly during the divorce.
"I had girls. I had these two little babies," Strahan said about his reason to restrain from speaking out. "And I don't want my little ones to Google when they're older -- they're 10 years old now -- and say, 'Daddy, why did you say this about mommy?' I didn't want that. It was more important for me to take it and deal with it as a father than to put my -- to say something that could hurt my kids in the future."
Although he faced many obstacles during his divorce from Muggli, Strahan revealed that his first divorce to ex Wanda Hutchins was much smoother.
"She gives me advice on relationships and everything else," he said about Hutchins. "We were just kids having kids. For us, we were smart enough to turn that into a great friendship."
Strahan was most recently linked to fiancee model Nicole Murphy. However, back in August the two split and called off their engagement due to their conflicting schedules and long distance relationship, New York Daily News reported at the time.
