Premios Univision Deportes 2014 Preview, Nominees & Predictions: Latino Athletes to Be Celebrated With Hispanic Hall of Sports Fame, Awards
The first Premios Univision Deportes will take place on Dec. 18 at 9 p.m. on both UniMás and Univision Deportes Network.
There will be a total of 25 awards given out, according to Univision, and the show will last two hours. Sixty-five athletes in total have been nominated for the different categories, such as Best Boxer of the Year, Breakthrough Athlete of the Year and Best Athlete Post on Social Media.
James Rodriguez, Landon Donovan, Miguel Herrera and Albert Pujols are among the stars who are nominated.
The show aims to honor Latinos in sports, and fans had some say in who will win awards. Although a group of sports reporters and personalities voted as part of a committee, fans were also able to vote on some awards, such as Goal of the Year, Extreme Sports Athlete of the Year and Best Artistic Performance by an Athlete. Voting closed on Dec. 14.
Special honors will also be given, and, as part of that, a Hispanic Hall of Sports Fame will be started. The hall will be in a public street, and the biggest Latino athletes will be inducted, notes Univision.
Donovan, Herrera and Natalia Jimenez are among the celebrities that will be present for the award show. Alan Tacher and Jacky Bracamontes will be hosting, notes Latin Gossip.
