Getting home safely is always important, especially when alcohol is involved. 'Tis the season for celebrating, but no one wants to be on the road with impaired drivers. Because of this, popular car service Lyft teamed with Budweiser to make sure people get home safely.

Budweiser is offering a promo code for a free ride (up to $25) for first-time Lyft riders.

"Whether you're heading out for the office holiday party or New Years Eve, Budweiser wants to remind #HolidayBuds to make a plan to make it home safely. That's why we're teaming up with Lyft to extrend a special offer to first-time Lyft users throughout the holidays," according to Budweiser's website.

The offer is good pretty much anywhere Lyft is available, except California. Lyft is a startup from San Francisco that encourages a personable driver experience unlike a taxi cab driver.

Lyft rides start as low as $5 and can increase in cost based on the amount of time and mileage you are in the vehicle.

Lyft is typically cheaper than Uber, but Uber has been trying to remain competitive by reducing their prices and offering promotions as well. For instance, Uber recently announced free rides in India and just partnered with a mobile wallet company called Paytm.

This offer's only geared at first-time users, so if you've used Lyft before, this promotion will not work for you.

What do you think of Lyft? Have you ever taken it? Is it a good alternative to taxis or getting a ride from your friends? Leave us a comment below and let us know what you think.
