'Arrow' Season 3 Spoilers: Sara Lance to Return in Episode 13
TV fans of The CW's "Arrow" can expect a surprise return from Sara Lance in an upcoming episode next year.
In the epic midseason finale, which was titled "The Climb," Oliver learned that his sister Thea was behind Sara's mysterious murder. It turns out that she was drugged and coaxed into killing Sara by her biological father, Malcom Merlyn, so that he could kill Ra's al Ghu, who vowed to avenge Sara's death. As a result, Oliver took the wrap for Thea and faced off with Ra's in the eastern mountains without help from Team Arrow.
Eventually, Ghul got the upper hand on Oliver during their shirtless fight and plunged his sword deep into Oliver's chest. Then, in a devastating blow, he pushed the Green Arrow off the edge of the mountain, apparently sending him to his death, reports Entertainment Monthly.
According to TVLine, actress Caity Lotz will reprise her role as Sara in Episode 13, titled "Canaries." Showrunner Marc Guggenheim described her featured appearance as "a really cool episode," and added that Peter Stormare will return as the villain Count Vertigo.
"It's an episode where a lot of things that we've been doing and setting up during the season really sort of come together," said the executive producer, adding that he will bring things "full circle." He also hinted that "It's not a 'climactic' kind of episode, but there's a feeling of a big payoff by the end of it."
The EP also dropped a few spoilers about Laurel's transition into the Black Canary.
"The one thing I want to clarify -- and I don't know how this happened -- it got out there in the ether that we were doing a Black Canary arc," he told Comic Book Resources. "That's not really the case. In episodes 10, 11 and 12, there's some pretty huge growth for Laurel and big steps taken on the road to becoming the Black Canary. That said, it's not the Black Canary show. I'd say episode 10 is all about Team Arrow and dealing with the ramifications and the aftershocks of 309."
"Arrow" Season 3, Episode 10, "Left Behind," airs on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
