However, the decision did not please everyone since the majority of the book series' fans wanted Matt Bomer or Ian Somerhalder to land the part.

Up to this very point, there are still many buzzing controversies that surround the actor being chosen for the role. On the other hand, there is also some good news to it that fans who love the actor even leave their lingerie items on his doorstep. Despite all the criticism, Hunnam remains confident that he will be able to prove himself well as he takes on the character of executive Christian Grey.

He mentioned to Entertainment Weekly that the fans of the book may have not imagined him as the person to play the character they have brought life to with their own imaginations. "I'm taking it very seriously and intend to explore the nature of who this character is, what motivates him - and also dress up nice and look good in those suits," the hunk actor added.

All his costars in the series he is in also show full support to the big project that awaits Hunnam. EOnline reported that even the actress, Katey Sagal, who acts as her mom in the Sons of Anarchy series expressed how proud she is of the actor and the opportunity he was given. "The choice was not an obvious one for him. But for good or bad, he will throw himself 100 percent in," she added.
