iPhone 5s, 5c Release Date and Price Drop: iPhone 5c Now $45, Both Models Available In 25 More Countries This Week
Now that the iPhone 5s and 5c rush has calmed down in the United States, Apple is going global.
The popular smartphones are spreading to several countries worldwide this week, including Italy, Russia, Austria, and Spain. The phones, which were rolled out in the United States in September, were also already released in France, Canada, and China last month.
Still, according to ABC News, many of the people in line for the phones last month said they were going to be taking their phones back to their home countries. Others told ABC that they were going to buy the phone and ship it to their friends and relatives back home in other countries.
Apple reported that 9 million phones were sold in the first weekend of sales. Apple will reportedly announce an update to that number on Oct. 28, which will be a week after the company unveils the new iPads on Oct. 22.
The price of the iPhone 5c dropped to $45 this past week at retailers in the United States. There is a catch to it all -- this price is only available to users who are willing to sign a two-year contract with the phone. It is unclear whether the price will be reduced in other nations, but it is likely to start at the price listed on the Apple website.
On Apple.com, the iPhone 5c starts at $99 while the iPhone 5s starts at $199 and goes up from there. The 32 GB costs $299 while the 64 GB costs $399.
