Chiquis Rivera and Siblings Visit Single Mothers Who Have Been in Abusive Relationships Before Christmas [Watch]
Chiquis Rivera and Jacqui Marin are following in their mother's footsteps. The two were seen going to a women's community group that supports single mothers who have been in abusive relationships, reports Despierta America.
Chiquis was seen attending New Economics for Women, the morning news show detailed. She and her siblings have supported the shelter for more than two years, and this cause was also very important to Jenni Rivera.
"We feel it's the best we can do during Christmas," she said. "And so we can finish off the year the right way."
New has been around for 25 years and it mostly works with immigrant women, according to its website.
"New has been dedicated to the economic security of women, especially immigrant women, in low-wealth communities," the site's description says. "Our programs and investments focus on creating culturally relevant whole family financial education, affordable housing, and community engagement as the primary tools needed to overcome economic insecurity. We aim to be a leading voice for advocacy on public policy issues affecting immigrant women in low-wealth areas."
Chiquis was also asked what her plans were for Christmas Eve, and the singer said that she and her family would be heading to her grandmother's house. She said that "everyone" would be together for the holidays.
And she talked about her brother, who
"Johnny is going to be a director, a very famous director...," she said. "This year has been very good, and I hope this upcoming one is too."
The same day that Chiquis visited New, she shot a video of herself explaining what she was most looking forward to for Christmas, which included her family, reminiscing about the past and looking to the future.
