Judd Apatow to Produce Pee Wee Herman Show for Netflix
Director and producer, Judd Apatow is set to produce a Pee-Wee Herman movie that will be distributed on Netflix, the Wrap reports.
The Wrap sources claim that Netflix has yet to finalize its deal with Apatow, however, the two parties are very close to confirming the business deal.
Prior to its collaboration with Netflix, Apatow's Pee-Wee Herman film partnered with Universal which later dropped the film, says the Wrap.
Actor Paul Reubens will reprise his coveted role as Pee-Wee Herman in the Apatow-produced film and Reubens will also act as co-writer of the film's script.
Plot details about the film have yet to be released. However, the Wrap suggests that film production for the movie may begin as early as February.
Meanwhile, Netflix is already promoting the Pee-Wee Herman character to its younger audiences with the release of "Pee-Wee" classics including "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure," "Big Top Pee-Wee," "The Pee-Wee Herman Show," "Pee-Wee's Playhouse: Vol. 1, " and "Pee-Wee's Playhouse: Vol. 2."
Apatow has yet to publicly comment on his Netflix Pee-Wee Herman film. However, he has publicly expressed his objection towards Sony's recent decision to pull "The Interview" from movie theaters following North Korea's threats against the film, Deadline reports.
Last week, Apatow took to Twitter to describe Sony's decision as "disgraceful."

Sony has since reneged on its decision to pull "The Interview." The Sony produced film can now be seen in select theaters and online.
