Xbox One vs PS4 Specs, Pre-Orders & Sales: UK Retailer Says Microsoft's Next-Gen Console One Will Outsell Playstation 4
U.K. retailer John Lewis added a big twist to the Xbox one and Playstation 4 rivalry this week.
"We are expecting more interest in the Xbox One," John Lewis' head tech buyer, Jonathan Marsh said. "We are stocking both the PS4 and the Xbox One, but if we were to back one, we are thinking that Xbox One will appeal a bit more to our customers in terms of the experience it creates."
The Xbox One is receiving a much-needed boost in public relations after a recent report said that the PS4 would likely outsell its rival this holiday season. Many factors play into this but perhaps none are as important as the price. The Xbox One is a whopping $100 more for a game console that is considered to be neck to neck with the PS4. Most argue that the price difference is not justifiable for such a similar product. With this being said, Xbox's director of product planning and management Albert Penello told gamespot that he believes the extra cost is worth it.
"I think we do more. I think our games are better. I think as people start to experience Kinect and see what it can do using voice, I think that's better," he added. "I think the ability to have an all-in-one system where you can plug in the TV, that's better. I think we'll have a better online service."
Among other problems the Xbox One has faced in the early going includes a later release date, which gives the PS4 a chance to get ahead early. Still, both systems are going to be on the shelves in stores prior to the anticipated Black Friday sale.
