Prince William and Kate Middleton have been very busy planning the christening of their 3-month-old Prince George, which will take place later this month. Since they want the very special occasion to be small and intimate, some of the royal family members have been left out from the invite list, causing a royal controversy.

Upon seeing the initial guest list, Prince William realized that he "hardly knew anyone on it," so he decided to rewrite the guest list. He and Middleton wanted the ceremony to be an "intimate, family affair," so they omitted a number of royal relatives, including uncles Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, and aunts Princess Anne and Sophie Countess of Wessex, making the list to be as small as possible.

Buckingham Palace has refused to comment on the baby's christening. "We will announce the full guest list in due course when we are ready to do so," a spokesperson of the palace said.

The definite guests who will be attending the Prince George's christening will be the royal couple's immediate family, including Prince Charles, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, Michael and Carole Middleton, Kate's siblings, William's brother, and great-grandparents the Queen and Prince Phillip.

Kate and William are yet to announce whom they have chosen to be George's godparents however, favorite candidates are expected to be Kate's brother James, sister Pippa, and William's brother Prince Harry, among other candidates including William's friends.

In addition, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have broken the tradition of the royal family by holding the christening in the Chapel Royal in St. James' Palace instead of the Music Room at Buckingham Palace, because of its "small, intimate, and personal setting."

The christening of Prince George will be held at the Chapel Royal in St. James' Palace on October 23.
