NBA 2K14 Release Date, Gameplay & Features: Rival Franchise NBA Live 14 Lands Nov. 19, Which Will Be Better? [POLL]
Could the powerful NBA 2K series be in danger of facing competition?
Kind of, but not really -- yet. The NBA Live series, which used to be a popular staple on the older Playstation consoles, is resurfacing after spending a few seasons off. According to IGN's website, NBA Live 14 will be on shelves November 19.
The last time we saw an NBA Live game was in 2010 when NBA Live 2010 was released. NBA Live 13 in 2012 was pushed but ultimately got canceled by EA. This season, at least, it seems that the LeBron James hype with NBA 2K Sports buys the 2K Sports series some time. The popularity has skyrocketed and it would take a big advertising campaign by NBA Live in order to create a real competition.
What NBA Live does have is a clean slate starting with the new video game consoles about to be released. EA Sports is looking to make this game "revolutionary," which would serve as a perfect theme since NBA Live's recent struggles most certainly call for a revolution of some kind in order for the game to find success again.
"Revolutionary physics-based dribbling allows for complete, organic control and authentic responsiveness," EA Sports says in one description of the offensive capabilities in the game. "Utilize a full suite of dribble moves to unleash ankle-breaking crossovers, hesitations and more."
With all this being said, if NBA Live could make a push in the next season or two, do you think it could pose as a serious competitor or even take the top spot back from 2K Sports? Let us know in the poll.
