Apple Inc. to Release Low-Cost iMacs, Slimmer MacBooks and High Resolution iPads
A week before the tech giant is rumored to unveil the 5th generation iPad during its October 22 event, rumor mills are once again in motion. This time, rumors are pointing to the iPad 6 and the company's Mac lineup.
Reports from various sources say that Apple will be releasing the iPad 6 sometime next year. CNET cites KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, reporting that the iPad 6 will most likely be a 9.7 inch tablet.
Several rumors in the past have pointed out possible larger iPads in the future -- with screen sizes reaching 12.9 inches. Kuo thinks the possibility of larger iPads being released is highly unlikely. According to him, 12 inches "would not provide a good mobility experience given today's technology limitations."
The 6th generation iPad will also allegedly be higher in resolution compared to the iPad 4. Specifically, the iPad 6 is expected to come with a resolution 30 to 40 percent higher compared to the 264 pixels per inch of the tablet's current generation.
Apple is also rumored to release lower cost iMacs. One of the assumed reasons for the more budget friendly edition of the desktop is its not so successful worldwide sales. Kuo cites their own survey indicating that the desktop "shipped fewer-than-expected units in the worldwide market." A lower cost version of the desktop is expected to boost shipment and sales.
A new MacBook model is rumored to have been in the works as well. The new MacBook is slated to launch by the middle of next year, reports Tech Radar. The newer model is expected to be thinner and lighter compared to the current generation MacBook Air.
It is helpful to note though that although there is a rumor about a new slimmer MacBook model is scheduled for mid 2014, there is no mention of whether the model will be a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro. The slimmer MacBook 2014 could even be a whole new laptop category.
Apple has not confirmed any of the said rumors.
