Lindsay Lohan was recently diagnosed with a rare, incurable virus during her French Polynesian vacation.

The "Mean Girls" actress was certainly enjoying the holiday season with longtime pal Patrick Aufdenkamp, being surrounded by gorgeous sceneries. She took to her Instagram account to share several snapshots.

"The purpose of our lives is to be happy. Dalai Lama #LifeHappyPurpose," the caption reads.

"Pink sky at night, sailors delight," another caption says

However, Lohan tweeted on Dec. 27 to let her followers know that she has contracted the Chikungunya virus, sharing a photo of herself on a jet ski in the ocean.

"Before I got chikungunya use Big spray please," she wrote. "God bless."

According to the World Health Organization, the virus, which is sometimes mistaken for dengue, is transmitted through mosquito bites and causes fever, severe joint pain, fatigue and a rash, among other unpleasant symptoms. It cannot be cured and the joint pain can last for months.

On the following day, the troubled star updated her fans with a tweet:

Despite her health situation, Lohan seemed to be happy, as she later shared a selfie with her friends later that day via Instagram.

"In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation," she captioned the image. "be safe and happy on the new year all #wildfox and a positive, healthy new year," the caption says.
