WWE SmackDown Spoilers for January 2, 2015: Big Show, Roman Reigns Intensify Growing Rivalry
The Big Show and Roman Reigns will be on the same roof once again on SmackDown on Friday night in Norfolk, Virginia, just days after the two superstars engaged in a scuffle on Monday's Raw.
Reigns was on the verge of scoring a win against Seth Rollins on Monday night when The Big Show interfered. "The World's Largest Athlete" sent Reigns crashing to the announce table, which intensified the budding rivalry between the two superstars.
Edge and Christian started the show and apologized to the fans for what happened on Monday. Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble interfered, saying that Rollins and Big Show were not responsible for the way Raw ended on Monday.
Edge then announced the co-main events -- Big Show vs. Ryback and Reigns vs Rusev.
In the opening match of the day, Wyatt pinned Erick Rowan. Wyatt then promoted his Ambulance match against Ambrose on Monday.
Ryback and Big Show had an action-packed match where both fighters had their moments of brilliance, but the Russian flag appeared before Lana and Rusev made their way to the ring to distract. Big Show took advantage and sent Ryback off the ropes en route to a win via count out. Rusev attacked Ryback, but ended up getting clotheslined out of the ring.
Tyson Kidd and Cesaro, the Masters of the WWE Universe, defeated Los Matadores using their new double team maneuver. In the next match, Dean Ambrose attacked Curtis Axel even before the match started. Ambrose hit Axel with his famed "Dirty Deeds" finishing move and cut a promo on Bray Wyatt, which sent the crowd into frenzy.
The Ascension squashed two local wrestlers in the following scene before The Usos and R-Truth won against Stardust, Goldust and Adam Rose.
Before the co-main event match between Reigns and Rusev started, Edge and Christian had a backstage segment where they were shown drawing on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon's pictures.
Reigns defeated Rusev in the final match of the evening as Big Show interfered. Reigns hit his rival with his vaunted Superman punch. Big Show attempted a spear, but ended up crashing on the announce table after Reigns dodged his attack. Reigns then dumped the announce table over Big Show to close the show.
