The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is a yearly bonanza of gadgetry, tech giants, industry leaders, nerdy journalists and product launches. It is a forum to showcase technology for the next year and many years after that. The general tone of CES 2015 can be broken down into a few main categories that we can expect to be heavily present at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

4K and Ultra HD Televisions

This year, LG Electronics has the center spot on the floor and is expected to take a no-holds-barred approach to ensuring itself the center spotlight for press coverage and industry intrigue.

Rumor has it that LG may unveil a new G Flex 2 flexible phone that takes full advantage of OLED technology, which is far more flexible than traditional LED. Aside from smartphones we can certainly expect to see LG televisions in full force. The battle of the new, ultra-high resolution, hip television has been fought out at CES between Samsung and LG for years now, but it seems this year LG has a shot at the title. Expect to see us cover some absolutely stunning LG displays, bringing new technologies like quantum-dot to the table.

LG also takes us into the next major category at this year's CES...

Wearables

We'll keep this brief, but expect to see an absolute out-pouring of smart watches, fitness trackers, wearable assistive devices, virtual reality headsets and much more as CES 2015 sets the stage for wearables redux.

The Internet of Things

Unless you haven't been reading any tech news or have been living in a tech-less cave for the past year, you have undoubtedly heard the hype over the "Internet of Things" or IOT for short. This is the idea of putting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth into absolutely everything in your home. Expect to see "smart" lights, locks, faucets, heaters, A/C, dog food, garage doors, windows, and pretty much everything that has an on/off switch or some sort of electronic control.

The wish would be to control it all from your smartphone. The issue in years past has been the lack of inter-connectivity between smart devices. We are expecting to see significant effort made towards enhancing the interconnectedness of IOT controlled devices.

The Consumer Electronics Show kicks of this Tuesday, Jan. 6, and will feature hundreds of presenting companies from the giants, to the foreign, to the weird and wacky gadgets of the future. It will play host to hundreds of thousands of industry members, and Latin Post will be bringing you the best of the best.
