Selena Gomez Tour Dates 2013: Fall at VA Concert Causes Concern About Lip-Syncing
Selena Gomez, formerly of Wizards of Waverly Place, was performing her single "Slow Down" at a concert in Fairfax, Va. on Oct. 11, when steps from her elaborate dance routine caused her to trip forward and fall on her knees. Though, the talented and spry singer/actress did quickly hop to her feet and continue dancing like a true pro, the slip did raise concerns about lip-syncing.
When Gomez dropped to her knees, she used it as an opportunity to high five fans before a dancer helped her to feet, and she proceeded to execute the rest of her moves in her frayed dress and high-heeled boots. What also happened when she fell was she yelped the word, "Ouch" into her microphone, while the track continued to play at the same time.
Youtube flared with comments from Gomez's haters and enthusiasts, some excusing Gomez's lip-syncing stating, "I don't care if she sang live or not... her performance was AWESOME." While others roared with outrage, stating, "She basically just whips her hair and dances all around to distract [from] the fact that she's not really singing." The commentators square off, many Gomez followers claiming that this is the only song that she's used playback on, and the opposition heavily disagreed.
According to Yahoo Music, the opposition was right. Both Kid Rock and Ed Sheeran have criticized Gomez's live performance before and other performers who "sang" at the Billboard Music Awards this past May. Following the performances of Gomez, Chris Rock and others, Kid Rock remarked "Let's give it up for lip-syncing under pre-recorded music!"
Gomez has yet to make any comments about the fall or the lip-sync accusation.
