If the rumors are true, then speculation regarding the inevitable Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone should soon come to end. According to some Samsung insiders, the device will be shown off behind closed doors at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Samsung-centric blog SamMobile reports that its "usually reliable sources" inform them that Samsung will have the Galaxy S6, codenamed Project Zero, and its variant, possibly the Galaxy S6 Edge on hand at CES 2015, which runs from January 6-9 in Las Vegas.

Consumers won't get a chance to see the new smartphone, however, because Samsung will reportedly only be showing it to selected partners. This is typical, as Samsung as done this in the past with previous Galaxy S models at previous CES shows. Instead, Samsung chooses to unveil its flagship smartphones at giant, entertainment-filled "Samsung Unpacked" event. Samsung should release the Galaxy S6 by the end of spring 2015.

There are no official details about the Samsung Galaxy S6 and its rumored variant, but a confirmed Samsung representative on Reddit says that improvements are noticeable and that Samsung's TouchWiz interface should finally be slimmed down.

"As far as performance, benchmarks are noticeably higher but not by earth-shattering amounts. Overall device responsiveness is vastly improved, and memory consumption is way down," wrote SamsungRep2015. "Some builds have freed over a gig of memory consumption from cold boot... not just specs Samsung is focusing on this time around. I've heard lots of rumblings about crazy new designs (and I'm not just talking Galaxy Alpha 'redesigns' either.) Spec-wise though, that all lines up with what I've seen/heard, but again there's quite a good chunk of time between now and April."

SamsungRep2015 is referring to the rumored 5.5-inch Super AMOLED QHD display, a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor or an eight-core Samsung Exynos 7 Octa processor, IP 67 water and dust resistance, and either a 16-or-20 megapixel rear-facing camera. All of this, however, isn't set in stone, thanks to the exhaustive development process Samsung is putting the phone through.

"Project Zero is indeed a real thing. I've also seen two different GS6 Edge variants, one with the normal Youm display on the Edge, and one with dual curved edges," says SamsungRep2015. "However, when I went to my orientation, a few weeks before the S5 came out I got to physically see the 5.2 inch version. Samsung prototypes a lot and things change extremely rapidly."

Bear in mind that the Samsung representative's Reddit account has since then been deleted along with most of his comments.
